"It's Time is helping me to focus on my values and is allowing me to discover the person I truly am"

"I took on the task of doing this teleseminar because I sincerely believe in helping others to achieve their goals. When I see or hear of other women trying to establish a business to uplift the community it really touches my heart. " Its Time " was a program just like that. Throughout this program I was always made to reflect on how I was doing, living , being, or just existing. We were given assignments that made us analyze "ourselves" and to be truthful with ourselves. I particularlly liked the  exercise in which the group had to tell what personal growth meant to them. This exercise really makes you pause to think about where you are, where you want to be, and how are you going to achieve it. I would recommend this teleseminar to anyone who is stuck in a station of life, or knows where she
is going but does not know how to get there." ~Monique S. Lee-NJ

"Sister Walida, you did a great teleseminar!"

Allah does not burden you upon your scope!

Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. "Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people."(The Noble Qur'an-Surah Al-Baqarah Ayat 286)

What level are you at on the "Esteem Bar"?

Self Esteem involves how you think about your self and your abilities. It is vital to your personal growth. It has two phases but ,in my opinion, it would be best to be in the middle. Thinking positive about the kind of person you are and your abilities has a major influence on how you react to situations and interact with others. It can mean the difference between being appreciative or becoming depressed in response to feedback from others.

Low self esteem in women is very common just based on the fact that we have so many things to deal with. We also are experiencing hormonal changes much more than men, due to our monthly courses. We undergo a lot of stress during our monthly courses due to the increased release of hormones. It's no wonder we may have the moments where we want to just eat a nice bowl of ice cream, or impulse shop, or grab a chocolate bar even when we are fully aware of the unhealthy affects to our body and finances.

According to research, there is a part of the brain that is responsible for how we perceive ourselves. This part of the brain is called the ACC( Anterior Cingulate Cortex) and it lies on the medial surfaces of the brains frontal lobes. Also a study,  presented at a conference at the Royal Society in London,  found that the brains of people with low self esteem are more likely to shrink compared with those who have a high self esteem.

NOOO Wayyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I cannot even imagine my brain shrinking!!! Can you?

What do you do about all this esteem stuff?

Let's start by educating ourselves on it's symptoms.

Here are some questions to ask yourself?

1. Do I constantly doubt myself and distrust my own judgements?

2.Do I blame myself for everything?

3.Do I seek to be approved by others in order to be happy?

4.Do I over-compensate or over achieve?

5.Do I stay stuck and inactive when I set goals because I fear failure?

6.Am i a perfectionist, looking for something wrong in everything?

7.Am I almost always dissatisfied with myself and my abilities?

8.Am I easily overcome with depression and despair when i experience a setback in my life?

9. Do I use addictive behavior to medicate my emotional pain?(over-eating,over-working,excessively searching for validation)

10.Do I have a tendency to over react?

There are many more questions but I will stop here and say... So what will you do now?

Time For A.C.T.I.O.N.(Acquiring Confidence To Initiate Opportunity Now)

So where are you on the "Esteem Bar"?

Take a moment to reflect on your answers from the above questions. Now turn the statements into I statements. Ex: say "I have a tendency to overreact?  How is it making you feel?

Do you know that what you say affects how you behave? Are you comfortable with these statements that you are making about yourself and feel that it isn't necessary to make any changes? You are probably not feeling so comfortable or maybe you are because you don't want to have to deal with changing it. The choice to willingly stay stuck sounds weird but, according to research, humans would rather stay stuck in an unhealthy circumstance rather than make changes to a more healthy one for fear that they will become uncomfortable and loose control.

Now try coming up with your own affirmations, or positive self statements and repeat them daily! There are so many on the internet so if you are having difficulty coming up with your own just type "daily affirmations for self esteem" in the google search bar!

SAY NO TO BRAIN SHRINKING AND RAISE THAT ESTEEM BAR TODAY!!!

HB's 7 Day Inner Speech Challenge

Now for the next 7 days I encourage you to kick it up a notch with more positivity than you did in the last 7 days!!! Who is up for the challenge?

Objective:
Focus on positive thoughts and commit to positive speech for 7 days straight! Repeat Repeat Repeat after every 7 Days until You have mastered it! Mastering it does not mean eliminating negative speech totally it because it can never be eliminated! It's all in how well you manage it.
According to research, most people do not believe in themselves or their abilities, and therefore, allow their mind to ramble with negative inner speech.
Day 1-Start by paying attention to your thoughts! Oh Allah, please guide me to better thoughts about myself and my abilities and forgive me for not being grateful for what you have created me with-Ameen.
Day2- Say something positive about yourself while smiling in the mirror!
Day 3-Are you ready to begin living a thriving life instead a surviving life? If you are, then say it loud(while in the mirror, if possible)!
Day 4- I am thankful for how my Lord created me and I am going to start taking better care of myself today.
Day 5- I must get closer to my Lord so that when sadness visits me it is only brief because of the trust I have in Him.
Day 6-I only desire that which is good for my mind, body, and soul.
Day 7- Let me only love about myself what Allah would love and change about myself what Allah would be displeased with. I will not live to please people but live to please my Lord, The One Most Worthy of pleasing!
